The Joomla community announced Joomla Framework 1.0, making a major step forward for the Joomla project.

The development team refactored and improved many essential features necessary for managing, creating and deploying a modern PHP web application and compiled them into a library of modular packages. It can be easily integrated with other PHP frameworks and PHP packages with Composer dependency manager.

The framework will provide the following main benefits:

1) It makes several packages paving the way to bild new web services and applications. These packages will be available for use with Composer via Packagist.org and can be combined with other packages, e.g. Zend, Symfony… Web applications build with the Joomla Framework will provide creating and managing users and content as well as integration with popular social media packages.

2) The future version of the Joomla CMS will be built with this framework bringing rapid development tools and allowing creation of more robust and sustainable extensions.

Impact on current Joomla users

At the moment, this doesn’t impact an average Joomla user, but the Framework is a toolkit for developers ans designers. It represents a great promise of things for future versions of the Joomla CMS and download the Framework will do nothing to enhance your current website.
